Founded by Jesse Shwayder in 1910 in Denver, Samsonite initially catered to an exclusive set of customers who had the means to travel around the world. The Shwayder Brothers first crafted robust wooden trunks for this purpose. The first suitcase with a lock system, called Oyster, came up in 1986. The first aluminum product from this company came in 2000. The customizations and improvements started getting better from 2008 onwards when they launched the Cosmolite series, made of their patented Curv material. It helped the bags become stronger yet more lightweight.
